Mrs. Mildred Tan-Sim Beng Mei

Mrs. Mildred Tan-Sim Beng Mei is currently the Chair of Singapore Totalisator Board (Tote Board) and the Chair of Singapore University of Social Science (SUSS) Board of Trustees. She is also the Co-Chair for the Council for Board Diversity (CBD).

She is also Board Director of National University Health System (NUHS), Wing Tai Holdings and AIA (Singapore). In addition, she sits on the Council of Presidential Advisers as a Member.

Prior to these roles, she was the Managing Director with Ernst & Young Advisory Pte Ltd (2002 – mid 2018) where she was responsible for Business Advisory Business focusing on Performance Improvements for organizations including corporate strategy, people advisory. She led large complex transformations in the enterprise workforce and customers – helping to develop frameworks and network integration, driving business strategies, innovations and change in building the new workplaces for technology & digital innovations for clients. One critical component was her oversight of Risk and Corporate Governance – areas of vital importance to the management accounting profession..

She was also the ASEAN Regional leader for EY Advisory (2006-2010) before she relinquished the role to assume the Leadership for EY’s Asia Pacific Government and Public Sector (2010-2018). This role change brought her to work with various government sectors such as the Public Service Division, Education, Healthcare, Transport, Land and Infrastructure Development.

In addition to her varied portfolio Mildred was a Board member of the EY APAC Governing Council (Board) with oversight responsibility of EY offices across 13 countries (2011-2017). She retired from the Firm in June 2018.

Prior to a career with EY, she was a Partner in Business Consulting with Arthur Andersen (1992-2002); Senior HR Director with Coopers and Lybrand, now PriceWaterhouseCoopers (1982-1992) and Manpower Specialist Officer with Ministry of Defence. Professional and Community Service (1980-1982).

Mrs. Tan was conferred Justice of Peace in 2008 and was awarded PBM (Public Service  Medal) in 2007 and BBM (Public Service Star) in 2014 for outstanding community service by the Singapore Government. She was nominated Member of Parliament in Singapore from 2009 to 2011.

She holds a Bachelor of Arts (Honours), Middlesex University, UK; a Masters in Education, University of Sheffield, UK and was a Graduate Member of the British Psychological Society (1980-2018)
