Professor Slamet Sugiri is a professor at the Faculty of Economics and Business, Universitas Gadjah Mada and is currently serving as Head of Accountant Profession Education Program. He also has served as its Chairman of the Accounting Department. He also has been an Accounting Consultant to some local governments of Indonesia since 2000 to the present. In addition, he has been a member of Committee on Financial Accounting Policy of Bank Indonesia.
He commenced his career joining the senior staff in the public accountant’s office of Hadori & Co (1986 – 1989) and later as Finance Manager of PT BPFE Printing and Publisher (1996 – 1998). He also was the Chairman, Accounting Department STIE Widya Wiwaha (1993 – 1995). On joining Universitas Gadjah Mada, he served as Director of the Centre of Accounting Development and the Coordinator of Swadaya Program.
In the past twenty years, Professor Sugiri has authored and co-authored papers in more than 40 research journal articles, including articles in the Journal of Indonesian Economy and Business; Economics and Sociology; The Indonesian Journal of Accounting Research; European Research Studies Journal; Indonesia Accounting Research Journal; Journal of Accounting and Finance in Emerging Economies; and the Journal of Economics, Business & Accountancy. He has also written a number of text books that are used in universities throughout Indonesia.
Amongst his numerous professional activities, he has been a Reviewer and Discussant for the Accounting National Symposium; Guest Lecturer at various accounting short course programs, Presenter at the Economics and Business Festival; and Certified IFRS Lecturer of the Institute of Indonesia Chartered Accountants.
His qualifications include Doctorandus, Faculty of Economics, Universitas Gadjah Mada, Indonesia (1985); Master of Business Administration (MBA), Murray State University, USA (1991); and Doctor of Accounting (Dr.), Faculty of Economics and Business, Universitas Gadjah Mada, Indonesia (2003).
Professor Sugiri is a Chartered Accountant (CA); a Certified Public Accountant (CPA) and a Fellow of the Institute of Certified Management Accountants (Australia) (FCMA). He is a member of the Indonesian Economists Association (ISEI), the Indonesian Institute of Accountant (IAI), and the Indonesian Institute of Public Accountant (IAPI).
The Institute of Certified Management Accountants is honoured to induct Professor Slamet Sugiri to the Global Management Accounting Hall of Fame® for his services to the profession in Indonesia.
